This page is also dedicated as a memorial to my first cousin, Howard Shelton, who passed away at the age of 87
on February 14, 2006. He was a member of the 1939 Texas A&M National Championship Team, and played for A&M in
1939 and 1940. He was a catalyst with Texas A&M in the remembrance of the 1939 team throughout the years,
including the special ring ceremony for the team some 50+ years after they won the national championship in 1939 against Tulane, 14-13.
