This site is devoted to the history of the Southwest Conference and the great football
helmet designs that
came from the nine teams in over 70 years of history.

This list is as complete as possible, but in the case of the "leather helmet era"and helmets before 1960, there may be some missing data and/or discrepancies.

In many cases, I have tried whenever possible, to include a photo of a helmet
that I've been unable to "nail down" the exact dates worn.
In some cases, a photo of the helmet could not be found,
and in such cases, I have designated it with "Photo Unavailable."

Please use the above links to navigate through the site.

TEAMS
will take you to the page to select from the nine SWC schools.

TEXAS A&M MUSEUM
is the page dedicated to the mini helmet display that I created
for Texas A&M in 2003 at the Texas A&M Sports Hall-of-Fame Museum,
located in "The Zone" at Kyle Field on the A&M campus.

VIRTUAL MUSEUM
is an on-line virtual SWC"Hall of Fame" featuring memorabilia from my collection.

LINKS
contains school links, collectible helmet sites and dealers, and more!

The website has been revamped and redesigned, featuring new material and a streamlined look.
Note that in many cases, the brands of helmet shells are now included in the Comments section.
Please also take a look at the special memorial section within the 1939 Texas A&M page, which is dedicated to my cousin, Howard Shelton, who was a member of that team and passed away in 2006.
