1975-1983
This is one of Tech's best looks, combining equally the black and red (scarlet) of the school's colors. An overall excellent design, especially the red mask. This look was instituted by Steve Sloan, who was Tech's head coach from 1975-1977, during which Tech was a major powerhouse, going 23-11 with a SWC co-championship. Helmet shells are Macgregor and Riddell.

1984-1992
Another change instituted by coach Jerry Moore was the changing of the facemasks to black. This look was carried through under the tenures of David McWilliams and Spike Dykes. Helmet shells are Riddell and Schutt.
